Between 2004 and 2005, Stalker/Osservatorio Nomade developed the Immaginare Corviale project. Its aim was to transform the stigmatized image of Corviale: a modern building almost a kilometer long located on the outskirts of Rome. The operations of Immaginare Corviale – far from construction and remodeling – were artistic, academic and communicative in nature. Using the concepts of curtain and screen defined by WJT Mitchell, I propose that the project acts as a curtain by projecting a new image of the building and its inhabitants; and as a screen, by connecting different realities and acting as a means of communication.
