Abstract

This research focuses on an aesthetic principle that was initiated in 1960 by the Polish theatre director Jerzy Grotowski, in which he defined his theatre as "Poor Theatre". At the same time, the English theatre director Peter Brook has begun a process of searching for an essential theatre. Both directors rethink the theatrical space and its relationship with the spectator, understanding it as a democratic space. These concepts at the present time to rethink the meaning of an essential language, from a sense of economy, not only of means and resources but also of actions.
